Chief Financial Officer

Description:

Executive level position with an industry leading regional specialty contractor. Has overall responsibility for the company’s financial activities with decision making authority commensurate with the position. Provides insight to the Board of Directors and ownership of the company’s financial status and assists in the development of the company’s strategic objectives. Executes the company’s financial strategy in support of these objectives.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and management to the accounting department
  • Provide financial recommendations to CEO/President and executive team on strategic and tactical issues:
    • Coordinate Board of Director Meetings, preparing agenda and presentation materials. Act as Secretary and document meeting minutes.
    • Routinely meet with company ownership on relevant issues.
 
  • Identify and address potential financial risks for the company
 
  • Primary point of contact with the financial institutions.
    • Reviews compliance with all financial covenants and approves quarterly reporting submission to the company’s primary bank
    • Assesses overall credit needs and negotiates with bank on terms and financial covenants during bi annual renewal of working capital and CAPEX lines of credit.
    • Liaison to the company’s bond broker for surety needs.
      • Oversees all active bond requirements
    • Recommend investment strategies by considering cash and liquidity risks
 
  • Joint responsibility with the VP of Safety for the company’s commercial insurance program
    • Primary contact with Insurance Brokers and evaluate all exposures and coverages on an annual basis
      • Provide financial oversight of the company’s participation in the Captive Insurance program that encompasses GL/WC/Auto policies.
      • Coordinate with local Broker on all other policies and coverage requirements.
 
  • Acts in the role of fiduciary in the administration of the Employee Stock Ownership Program (ESOP)
      • Primary point of contact with the ESOP Trustee and valuation firm.
      • Oversees the preparation of the ESOP participant statements by the ESOP 3rd Party Administrator
      • Provides oversite to ESOP Trust account via the Plan’s Investment Policy Statement
      • Works with ESOP advisor to maintain ESOP Plan Document and recommend changes to ESOP plan as required.
      • Coordinates ESOP Committee meetings
 
  • Provide financial oversight of the company’s participation in the Captive Insurance program for Health Insurance.
    • Participate in Captive Board Meetings and workshops to establish best practices for the company’s health insurance plan
 
  • Oversees the company’s 401K plan
    • Coordinates with 3rd party investment advisor on the financial performance and administration of the plan’s investment portfolio.
 
  • Oversees the working capital status of all operating companies.
    • Prepare and review weekly cash status report of all operating companies
 
  • Preparing and analyzing financial statements and profit and loss reports.
    • Reviews the quarterly Work in Process (WIP) reports with the company controller. Recommends adjustments as needed.
    • Prepare executive summary of financial position for ownership on a quarterly basis
 
  • Design financial models that support various operating initiatives on an as needed basis
 
  • Supervise the finance department and ensuring that all activities are current and updated

Requirements:

  • 15+ years experience in a senior Financial Management role in the construction industry
  • CPA or CMA designation preferred.
  • Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business preferred.
  • Up to date knowledge of current financial and construction accounting computer applications.
  • Excellent verbal, analytical, organizational and written skills.
  • Decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  • Leadership skills with the ability to delegate, motivate and inspire team members.
  • Impeccable honesty and integrity.
