Risk Manager – Heavy Highway Construction


Our client performs road maintenance throughout southern New England. They are looking to add a Risk Manager / Safety Manager as a start up position that would consolidate tasks currently being performed by multiple people within the organization. This is one of New England's largest and most well respected heavy highway contractors whom is pre-qualified to work in all New England states. +/- 50 employees, over $10M worth of state of the art construction equipment and average contracting revenue > $25M.   • Leads the identification, communication, measurement and management of company-wide risk.
  • Manages insurance procurement, develops and implements risk management and compliance policies/procedures and manages claims and litigation
  • Partners with key stakeholders to develop and implement standards, processes, programs and best practices related to risk management
  • Maintain and develop safety manual as needed
  • On board new employees in regards to training and safety
  • Develops and communicates plans to address loss events
  • Partners with all departments regarding incident reports and claims or losses
  • Identifies potential risk exposures, recommends solutions, implements approved programs, promotes loss prevention and updates and monitors compliance
  • Presents year in review and future goals to employees at annual startup meeting


  • Superior organization, project management skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team environment
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines with minimal supervision
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate, both written and verbally
  • Minimum 5 years experience in a related field
