Survey Division Manager

The business objectives for the Director of Survey

1) initially support the President by managing existing contracts and relationships in the areas of land surveying, construction surveying, and subsurface utility locating

2) learn and improve the current staff scheduling process and proposal development process for all areas

3) evaluate equipment inventory and pricing structure, implement a system to maximize equipment usage and profitability, and make recommendations for additional technology investments

4) champion a growth initiative to expand the survey business throughout New England and ramp up operations to service our growing construction subsidiaries. These objectives will be accomplished through strong leadership, team building and development, a thorough understanding of the business pressures involved, and the ability to develop and execute a comprehensive operational plan.

Our core survey team includes three Licensed Surveyors in the States of CT, RI, NH, ME, and NY, three survey crew chiefs, and other resources that service as part-time survey technicians.
Our survey services include:
Property and boundary surveys - Aerial Photogrammetric Surveys
Subdivision survey - Right-of-Way Mapping
ALTA/ACSM land title surveys - Zoning-related Surveys
As-Built surveys - Land Title Research and Court Testimony
GPS machine control - Utility Mapping and Utility Camera Survey
Topographical Survey - Construction Survey and Stakeout
Bathymetric Survey - 3D Laser Scanning

The following elements to support growth are presently in place:

Strong technical team consisting of highly engaged staff and managers,
Licensed surveyors in several states in New England. One L.S. operates out of our Manchester, New Hampshire office
Strong backlog with significant opportunities to support further our construction subsidiaries in their growing backlog, and
Expertise related to land surveying, drone technology, and subsurface utility locating services and a strong drafting team within the Civil / Survey Division.

Responsibilities:

Full P&L and management responsibility for the Survey Division The survey team provides survey services to developers, property owners, Electric Boat, the Navy, and also supports the engineering teams for surveying needs for industrial clients. The team also provides construction survey services for our two in-house construction subsidiaries. Our drone survey services are currently performed by our CAD Manager and one of our survey crew chiefs and include aerial drones and an unmanned marine drone. Our sub-surface utility locating team consists of two geologists that operate our ground-penetrating radar (GPR) and electromagnetic (EM) equipment. They predominately service our engineering and construction teams. We also have a GPS utility camera system that is predominately used to support our industrial clients.  

Requirements:

An Associate’s Degree and / or be a licensed surveyor in at least one state. 10 years of progressive experience with land and construction surveying 5  years Survey business development experience Survey group / survey team Management experience  

Salary:

+/- $150K DOE
