Vice President – Finance


The Vice President of Finance serves as the leader of the finance and accounting functions. This new role is expected to lead in alignment with the mission, values and vision of the company as a model for all others to follow. Accounting Management
  • Maintains and enforces a documented system of accounting policies and procedures
  • Manage outsourced functions (payroll )
  • Oversee the operations of the accounting department, including the design of an organizational structure adequate for achieving the department's goals and objectives
  • Oversee the accounting operations of subsidiary and affiliated entities, especially their control systems, transaction-processing operations, and policies and procedures
  • Ensure that accounts payable are paid in a timely manner
  • Ensure that all reasonable discounts are taken on accounts payable
  • Ensure that accounts receivable are collected promptly
  • Process payroll in a timely manner
  • Ensure that periodic bank reconciliations are completed
  • Ensure that required debt payments are made on a timely basis
  • Maintain the chart of accounts
  • Maintain an orderly accounting filing system
  • Maintain a system of controls over accounting transactions
  • Provide reporting and analysis that promotes the alignment of strategy and operations
  • Issue timely and complete financial statements
  • Coordinate the preparation of the corporate annual report
  • Assist in developing KPI’s and reporting to drive improvements in the business, aligning with long term strategic goals Calculate and issue financial and operating metrics
  • Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts
  • Calculate variances from the budget and report significant issues to management
  • Provide financial analyses as needed, in particular for capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations
  • Provide reporting and analysis that promotes the alignment of strategy and operations
  • Develop and maintain an inventory control and demand forecasting platform
  • Monitor and analyze monthly operating results against established targets

Accounting, General Ledger, Administration and Operations
  • Supervise the accounting department to ensure the proper functioning of all systems, databases and financial software. Provide regular maintenance and backup of all accounting systems and supervise company financial
  • Review and ensure application of appropriate internal controls and financial procedures.
  • Ensure timeliness and accuracy of financial and management reporting data
  • Oversee the preparation and communication of weekly, monthly and annual financial
  • Assist with the preparation and timely filing of all local, state and federal tax

  • Oversee the month-end close process, constantly reviewing procedures while eliminating

  • Enhance and implement financial and accounting systems, processes, tools and control systems
  • Hire, develop and manage accounting controllers, directors, managers and staff
  • Hold biannual performance reviews with direct reports to establish goals, and discuss career objectives

  • Work in conjunction with the Executive Leadership Team to develop 5-year strategic plans with measurable tactical actions that drive the business forward
  • Implement policies, procedures and processes as deemed appropriate by Executive Leadership
  • Develop short range and long-range Capital Expense plans driven by long range strategic objectives


  • Required Up to ten (10) years related experience; with a minimum of five (5) years’ experience in the construction industry.
  • Minimum education: Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Accounting, CPA encouraged
  • Ability to multi-task, work in high pressure environment. Effective oral and written communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills.
