Vice President – Operations

Description:

Executive level position with an industry leading regional specialty contractor. Has overall responsibility for the company’s construction operations reporting directly to the owner. Decision making authority commensurate with the position. Provides insight to the Board and assists in the development of the company’s strategic objectives. Executes the company’s strategy in support of these objectives.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for managing personnel, equipment and material resources for all territories.
  • Work with PM’s and Supers for project setup, execution, and closeout.
  • Monitor costs of all company operations and direct project costs.
  • Review all cost estimates and proposals with Estimators before submission to customers.
  • Create Project estimates and proposals if needed.
  • Work with other managers to maintain, improve, and implement safety program.
  • Serve as Project Manager for specific jobs and provide overlap and/or coverage for PM’s and Super’s as needed.
  • Serve on the Executive Management Team.
  • Create new relationships and business opportunities
  • Coordinate training for all employees with senior leadership and VP of Safety
  • Review and provide updates monthly to WIP schedule with CFO and Controller
  • Maintain positive relationships with all clients and make sure subordinates are doing the same
  • Work with division heads to monitor maintenance shop manpower, costs, safety, and functionality
  • Work in a cooperative, team-like manner with all entities of Supreme Industries customers and suppliers.
  • Effectively communicate to employees Company policies and procedures.
  • Ensure safe work habits are followed and that personnel are trained in safety and safe working conditions.
  • Ensure the Company name is upheld through quality and timely performance.
  • Continually seek ways of cutting costs without sacrificing quality, service and safety.
  • Ensure PM’s, Supers, Foreman, Field, and Office personnel follow and closely adhere to established management controls to safeguard the Company’s assets and monitor fiscal performance.
  • Resolve any problems that cannot be solved by the Project Manager, Superintendent, Foreman or Project Engineer with the Owner, Engineer and Contractor.
  • Maintain open communication and foster a harmonious working relationship with personnel.
  • Oversee the problem solving and prevention of potential problems for all assigned projects.
  • Meet regularly with Project Manager and Superintendents to discuss all project status, plans and change to plan.
  • Provide all management members updates on other projects.
  • Ensure Project Managers and Superintendents have proper safety, accounting, insurances, and project control paperwork in order on all projects for Supreme employees and subcontractors.
  • Assist Project managers and accounting in obtaining timely payment of monthly invoices as required.
  • Personally resolve human relations and performance problems or grievances not satisfactorily settled at a lower level.
  • Conduct periodic performance reviews on all individuals reporting directly to this position.
  • Create and maintain a professional and courteous work environment (with peers as well as customers).

Requirements:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers.
  • Excellent computer proficiency (MS Office – Word, Excel and Outlook).
  • Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service.
  • Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Construction Management and or Engineering degree preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years heavy civil / heavy highway / heavy utility construction industry experience in a Senior Management role.

Salary:

$200,000 plus - DOE

Location:

Based out of CT - Projects all over the Northeast.
